OSS Nokalva, developer of standards based software toolkits for building data communications applications, announced the availability of the OSS XML Schema (XSD) Tools for Java. The OSS XSD Tools are now available for C/C+, and Java.
"Our exciting new addition to our suite of binary XML solutions allows Java developers to take advantage of two complementary technologies -- XML and binary. XML presents several challenges when used in bandwidth and resource-constrained environments such as wireless telecommunications. Our Tools help you meet these challenges by providing runtime functions to quickly serialize/parse XML and binary documents and to convert from XML to binary and vice versa," commented Bancroft Scott, President of OSS Nokalva. "OSS enables companies to leverage their investment in XML technology by extending the reach of their XML data to applications traditionally not well suited for XML based exchanges."
The OSS XSD Tools for Java bind your XSD schema to Java representations. Runtime libraries provide fast encoding of values of these representations into XML or highly compact binary encodings. Using standard, proven, binary encoding rules we can achieve better speeds and rates of compaction than commonly used compression algorithms. Decoders provide validation and fast transformation of incoming XML documents and binary documents. Support of a Simple API for XML (SAX) for parsing XML and binary documents will be available 2H06 (currently available for C/C+). This feature enables streaming, a useful feature for applications deployed on space starved embedded platforms.
The OSS XSD Tools deliver the best of both XML and binary:
-- Highly compact binary encodings
-- Very fast transformation between XML and binary encodings
-- Adherence to the W3C XML Schema and ITU-T X.694 standards
-- Validation of your XSD schema
-- Validation of XML and binary documents against your XSD schema
-- Interoperability between XSD and binary encoding based applications
-- SAX parsing of XML and binary documents
Frank Curran, OSS Senior Solutions Specialist, stated, "Our XSD Tools now provide Java developers with a standards-based, single solution, providing efficiency, flexibility, and interoperability. Developers can choose the right option when they need it -- binary encoding, XML, or both."
