Fast, Simple and Free CushyCMS Now Powers 30,000 Websites

Stateless Systems, a web development company focused on the user experience and creators of the popular coupon site RetailMeNot.com, today announced several new features for CushyCMS, a fast, simple and free Content Management System (CMS) that addresses the specific needs of web designers. CushyCMS has received an enormously positive response from the web designer community since it launched in April 2008 and is now used to power 115,000 pages on 30,000 websites. The new features are a direct response to requests made by the CushyCMS user community and include edit capabilities for XML and expanded language support.

With CushyCMS, web designers can delegate basic content editing to non-technical users, without giving up control over a website’s information architecture, making their work more efficient and productive. Unlike other CMSs that take days to install and require programming knowledge to operate, CushyCMS can be implemented in minutes and is easy for non-programmers to use. CushyCMS frees Web designers to focus more time and energy on revenue-generating development projects.

New features to CushyCMS include:

  • Edit capabilities for XML for greater flexibility when working with Flash
  • Language support for Chinese, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Swedish
  • Automatic collapse of long site/page lists in the control panel
  • Better reliability for embedded PHP
  • SSL-enabled for https://cushycms.com
  • Display improvements

In addition, CushyCMS Pro users will now be able to:

  • Customize available WYSIWYG editor options per site
  • Define custom styles for the WYSIWYG editor

“CushyCMS was created by web designers for web designers to alleviate the specific pain points we face daily,” said Guy King, co-founder, Stateless Systems. “Response to CushyCMS has been tremendously positive from launch, and we take feedback from our users seriously. The new features are a direct response to suggestions we’ve received from our user community and are part of our ongoing effort to make CushyCMS drop-dead simple and useful for web designers.”

The Jevons Paradox suggests that when technological advances increase efficiency of a resource, it results in an overall increase in consumption. Writing on the increased use of coal as a result of technological improvements, 19th-century economist William Stanley Jevons found that these improvements led to the development of new ways to utilize coal. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Mark Thiele, Chief Strategy Officer for Apcera, compared the Jevons Paradox to modern-day enterprise IT, examin...
