Wavelink Releases New Version of Comprehensive Mobile Device Management for SMB Market

Wavelink Corporation (www.wavelink.com) today announced the immediate availability of Wavelink® Avalanche Site Edition™ (SE) 4.8, a full-featured mobile device management solution that is ideal for small to medium-sized businesses. This version of Avalanche SE™ introduces new features that enhance the management, usability and reporting features of the management console.

Wavelink Avalanche SE delivers a comprehensive device management solution that enables administrators to configure, deploy, secure and manage all their mobile devices from a central console. In addition to streamlined device management, Avalanche SE also provides automated out-of-the-box provisioning, centralized management and increased security for mobile devices. It provides broad support for devices from multiple vendors that encompass all types of mobiles devices including legacy DOS-based devices, ruggedized handhelds, wireless printers, barcode scanners, RFID readers and other embedded OS devices.

“With the introduction of Avalanche SE last year, we were able to fill a need for a device management solution that is more suited for SMB companies, which have historically been left to find other alternatives for device management or simply go without this critical IT management capability,” said Peter Cannon, senior product manager at Wavelink. “With this release, we are providing customers exceptional product enhancements that extend the power of Avalanche to companies that need a complete device management solution without the complexity of wireless infrastructure management. Wavelink Avalanche SE is the only vendor-agnostic product on the market that provides this extensive functionality and reduced complexity across such a large number of devices.”

Highlights of Wavelink Avalanche SE 4.8 include:

  • Web-based console for alert management.
  • Integration with Wavelink Communicator, which provides serverless, push-to-talk functionality on mobile devices.
  • Enhanced reporting module with new output options for CSV and XML formats.

With Avalanche SE, users receive the full device management functionality of Avalanche Mobility Center™ (MC) but without the complexities added by wireless infrastructure management and distributed architecture that are often only required by larger enterprises. As their needs grow, customers who purchase Avalanche SE with Wavelink’s maintenance plan (Customer Care) may upgrade to Avalanche MC™ at no cost.

Wavelink Avalanche Site Edition 4.8 is now available through Wavelink channel partners and for download at http://www.wavelink.com/download. For more information about Avalanche SE, please visit http://www.wavelink.com/products/avse.aspx.

While the focus and objectives of IoT initiatives are many and diverse, they all share a few common attributes, and one of those is the network. Commonly, that network includes the Internet, over which there isn't any real control for performance and availability. Or is there? The current state of the art for Big Data analytics, as applied to network telemetry, offers new opportunities for improving and assuring operational integrity. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Jim Frey, Vice President of S...

The Internet of Things is clearly many things: data collection and analytics, wearables, Smart Grids and Smart Cities, the Industrial Internet, and more. Cool platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Intel's Galileo and Edison, and a diverse world of sensors are making the IoT a great toy box for developers in all these areas. In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists discussed what things are the most important, which will have the most profound e...
The Jevons Paradox suggests that when technological advances increase efficiency of a resource, it results in an overall increase in consumption. Writing on the increased use of coal as a result of technological improvements, 19th-century economist William Stanley Jevons found that these improvements led to the development of new ways to utilize coal. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Mark Thiele, Chief Strategy Officer for Apcera, compared the Jevons Paradox to modern-day enterprise IT, examin...
