Egenera Supports Fujitsu's Launch of ServerView PAN Manager Virtualization on PRIMERGY Servers

Integrates PAN Manager as a Key Component of Its Service Oriented Infrastructure (SOI) Solutions for the Dynamic Data Center

Egenera announced its support for Fujitsu Siemens Computers' launch of ServerView PAN Manager on PRIMERGY blade servers. The two companies first established a successful OEM relationship centered on the Egenera BladeFrame system in 2005, amassing a strong enterprise customer base in more than 20 countries, including wins in the service provider, financial services and government sectors. Late in 2007, Fujitsu Siemens Computers was introduced as Egenera's first OEM for Egenera PAN Manager software. With the launch, Fujitsu Siemens Computers delivers on its vision to integrate PAN Manager as a key component of its Service Oriented Infrastructure (SOI) solutions for the Dynamic Data Center.

ServerView PAN Manager extends Fujitsu Siemens Computers' innovative FlexFrame Infrastructure platform, which drives business-responsive IT by using proven PAN Manager virtualization and automation technologies to create consolidated, Dynamic Data Centers. Starting with the integration of PAN Manager with its PRIMERGY BX600 blade server family, Fujitsu Siemens Computers plans to leverage the capabilities of Egenera PAN Manager software across its portfolio of blade servers. With Fujitsu Siemens Computers now offering its customers PAN Manager software, Egenera addresses a larger market opportunity and extends its strategy to make PAN Manager the industry standard for Infrastructure Virtualization by partnering with a number of strategic hardware partners.

PRIMERGY BX600 from Fujitsu Siemens Computers is a flexible and efficient blade server with an optimal architecture for integrating Intel- and AMD-based processor technologies. Its Advanced Blade Ecosystem offers improved performance and reduces energy consumption in enterprise data centers. All components are integrated and benefit from centralized cooling- and power-supply systems.

PAN Manager software delivers Infrastructure Virtualization by combining server virtualization with network and storage virtualization. By transforming IT infrastructure into flexible, changeable and scalable assets that can be allocated as needed, PAN Manager provides rapid time-to-market, dynamic scalability and cost-effective high availability.

PAN Manager software complements widely deployed hypervisors by delivering Infrastructure Virtualization that provides:

  • Simple and seamless provisioning and management for both physical and virtual servers, virtual networks and storage
  • Cost-effective high availability through patented N+1 technology
  • Verifiable disaster recovery through patented N+1 disaster recovery technology
  • Simple right sizing and scalability through dynamic repurposing
  • Effective chargeback capabilities, logical, secure partitioning, and named pools of resources
"PAN Manager software is a key technology for FlexFrame Infrastructure, whose combination provides customers with proven infrastructure agility, high availability and cost savings," said Jens-Peter Seick, senior vice president, Enterprise Server Business at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "Today, we're pleased to extend that unique value beyond the PRIMERGY BladeFrame to our industry-standard blade server family."

"The relationship between Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Egenera continues to be a great success for both companies," said Mike Thompson, Egenera president and CEO. "We congratulate them on the launch of such an important solution and look forward to continuing to leverage the combined strengths of both companies to deliver a broad set of powerful solutions to the market."
