FOX has chosen Sarvega's XML accelerator, the XML Speedway, for its FOXSports.com Web site on MSN. Fox Sports Interactive Media added Sarvega's XML Speedway to its IT infrastructure to gain scalability and to improve XML acceleration as FOXSports.com on MSN expands its features and gains viewership.
The number of services FOXSports offers makes it necessary to use an XML accelerator to provide high performance Web services and avoid network overload failures. FOXSports.com on MSN, delivers sports information, sports scores, live sports updates, sports statistics, fantasy sports, and a rich blend of exclusive editorial content, innovative customization and exclusive online video. In addition, FOXSports.com on MSN offers integrated packages of online content tied to premier sports events such as the MLB All-Star Game, the NFL season, the NFC Play-offs and, the Super Bowl.
Adam Bain, vice president of development and production at Fox Sports Interactive Media, said, "FOXSports.com on MSN requires an infrastructure that can support our needs today and grow with us. Sarvega's XML Speedway met our requirements - and we were very pleased that the Sarvega team was able to meet our aggressive timeline for launching our new site."
A growing number of organizations are using dedicated XML processing products, such as Sarvega's XML networking appliance, because it enables enterprises to keep their existing infrastructure in place, while gaining measurable increase in handling large amounts of data.
"Fox Sports Interactive Media is an impressive example of how XML is being used by major enterprises for key, revenue-generating initiatives. We are very proud that our XML Speedway Accelerator is being used by a household name such as FOX Sports," said Christopher Darby, president and CEO of Sarvega.
FOXSports.com will use Sarvega's XML accelerator to process tasks such as XML Stylesheet Language transformations (XSLT). XML Speedway can process XML tasks at wire-speed, enabling content to be dynamically presented in real-time. The ability to provide real-time content is especially important when broadcasting sports scores and dynamic statistics. XML Speedway also offers linear scalability, flexibility, and reliability.
