New Year Opens Gates of Paradise Package at Seattle's Mayflower Park Hotel

Seattle Art Museum Tickets and Hotel Guest Room Package Start at $189 January 26 - April 6, 2008

SEATTLE, Nov. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Three gilded bronze panels from the doors of the Baptistery of the Duomo (cathedral) in Florence arrive at the Seattle Art Museum in January 2008 for a rare glimpse at what Michelangelo named the Gates of Paradise. This masterpiece constructed in 1452 by Lorenzo Ghiberti is considered the gateway to the Italian Renaissance. Centuries later no Western culture is left untouched by them. The Mayflower Park Hotel is proud to offer the Gates of Paradise Package that includes two admission tickets and classic guest room. The Seattle Art Museum -- SAM -- is just a short walk from the hotel in downtown Seattle.

The panels depicting biblical stories of "Adam and Eve," Jacob and Esau" and "David and Goliath" will be moved back to Florence to be reassembled in the original doorway. "They are never expected to travel again," according to the High Museum of Art, a collaborator of the exhibit.

Package prices for the Gates of Paradise Package are $189 for a classic guest room and $209 for the deluxe guest room. Reservations: 206-382-6990, 800-426-5100 or e-mail at mayflowerpark@mayflowerpark.com. This special offer is good from January 26 through April 6, 2008, and is based on a space- available basis and does not include tax.

Built in 1927, the beautifully renovated Mayflower Park Hotel is one of the last remaining locally owned and independent hotels in the Seattle area. It is a member of The National Trust Historic Hotels of America(R) that includes such other notables as The Greenbrier in West Virginia, and The Brown Palace in Denver. The hotel is also home to the award-winning Martini bar, Oliver's, and Seattle's Best Mediterranean Restaurant, Andaluca Restaurant. Located at 405 Olive Way in Seattle, the Mayflower Park Hotel is operated by local owners Birney and Marie Dempcy and managed by Paul Ishii, General Manager.
