CGM Open Enables Browsers to Use Web Graphics Standards
(Boston, MA) - CGM Open, the OASIS-affiliated global consortium dedicated to standardized graphical information exchange, announced the release of a browser helper object (BHO) that enables browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer to effectively use the WebCGM Web graphics standard. Designed in collaboration with Microsoft, the CGM open BHO is an add-on software component that allows object-to-object linking of graphics in Web content.
Although the CGM open BHO was designed specifically for WebCGM access, the solution can also be adapted for SVG, the scalable vector graphics format currently under development by the W3C. Implementers may find more information and request distribution of the BHO at www.cgmopen.org.
23-Year-Old CEO Named
Technology Pioneer
(Munich, Germany) - Sebastian Schnitzenbaumer, CEO of Mozquito Technologies and a key developer of XHTML, has been named by the World Economic Forum as a technology pioneer for 2001. The 23-year-old was honored for the development of his company's XHTML-based software.
"It's truly an honor to be selected as a tech pioneer by the World Economic Forum," said Schnitzenbaumer. "It shows that the world's top business and political leaders view XHTML as an important step in the continuing development of the Internet, as well as validates us as an insightful high-tech company."
Schnitzenbaumer is also cochair of a W3C Working Group, coauthor of a book titled Beginning XHTML (Wrox), and an active member of the Internet advisory board to the Bavarian government.
