Real-World Web 2.0 Comet-Based Applications

In this AJAXWorld session the focus will be on real-world applications of the Comet programming technique

AJAXWorld Conference & Expo 2007 East, which will take place March 19-21, 2007 in New York City will offer the following session to its delegates.

In this session the focus will be on real-world applications of the Comet programming technique. Comet is a programming technique that enables web servers to send data to the client without the client needing to request it. First Jean-Francois Arcand will describe what a Web 2.0 Comet application is and how to build Comet applications using Grizzly Asynchronous Request Processing (ARP) and GlassFish. Next he will demonstrate an AJAX browser-based application and finally he will discuss some performance metrics measured using a Comet-enabled application.

Speaker Bio: Jean-Francois Arcand is a senior staff engineer at Sun Microsystems. He currently works on GlassFish, mainly on the WebContainer and the Grizzly NIO Framework. Before joining Sun, he has worked as a software architect for companies such as France Telecom, Microcell Telecom and HMS Software, in both Java and C++. Jean-Francois lives and works from home in Prevost, a very small city in Quebec where life is perfect.
