Dataline Software Launches i5 Studio 4.0

Brighton, United Kingdom, August 30, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Dataline Software is proud to announce a new version of i5 Studio – its powerful web developers’ toolkit suited for rapid application development. More than 50 new features have been introduced in version 4.0, making the development environment richer, faster and easier to use.

Dataline Software's i5 is a powerful and sophisticated web developer's toolkit, designed to deal with the increasingly complex demands of the Internet environment. Exclusively developed by Dataline, i5 incorporates pioneering tools for web enabling databases - that make it possible to take live information from multiple SQL databases and make it readily available via browsers and mobile devices - to employees, suppliers and customers.

Some of the new features available in version 4.0 include …

An enhanced .NET Programming Interface for developing web applications

The real value of i5 as a development environment lies in the way that it allows the programmer to extend the point and click capacities of i5 Studio with bespoke business logic code. The i5 .NET Programming Interface provides the developer with a complete set of classes for processing data, generating pages dynamically and generally providing the control required to organize sophisticated web applications. The new Programming Interface has been ported from COM to native .NET CLR which allows seamless integration with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, 2008 and 2010.

When building international B2B or B2C portal applications it can be very important to provide multi-lingual user interfaces. To make this possible, i5 4.0 is now equipped with a powerful internationalization feature which can dynamically substitute placeholders in i5 pages with translated text looked up from external XML resource files. Translations can be specified for each and every item including; labels, text values, images, HTML templates, date, time and number formats.

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
