LAKE MARY, FL -- (Marketwire) -- 02/28/13 -- CSE-Semaphore, a CSE Global company, has introduced a compact, remote terminal unit (RTU) that integrates powerful cyber security protection and wireless communications with complete, high-performance SCADA functionality. The new TBox LT2 RTU is an all-in-one unit featuring a web server, 3G wireless communications, and a complete cyber security application suite, all tightly integrated with programmable automation, alarm notification, data logging, and Ethernet communications in a single, rugged module. The system is available for immediate shipping.
Enabling this all-in-one integration is the innovative, decentralized architecture on which CSE Semaphore's TBox RTU line is built. This provides up to 50% cost savings over other systems that seek to combine PLC, communications, and SCADA components. The self-contained CSE-Semaphore system provides everything needed to create high-performance yet economical automation and monitoring of installations and enables easy creation of innovative push and multi-platform communications strategies. Users have complete access to alarms, live conditions, and historical data on their mobile devices, tablets, and PCs -- anytime and anywhere.
TBox LT2 RTU communications include Ethernet, RS232, RS485 and USB ports, and an integral 3G wireless option.. Mixed I/O configurations include 8 analog inputs, 16 digital inputs / outputs, selectable per-point, and, optionally, two analog outputs. For installations requiring additional I/O, the LT2 readily expands using compact modules interfaced via Ethernet or RS-485. This highly scalable, future-proof processing platform is based on an ARM9 CPU running at 400 MHz. The memory configuration includes 32 MB Flash, 64 MB SDRAM, 1 MB SRAM, and a Micro SD card with up to 32 GB capacity. TBox systems are easy to configure and offer dramatically reduced costs versus traditional PLC and SCADA architectures.
To help users take full advantage of the new capabilities of this integrated RTU offering, CSE-Semaphore has devised a unique, web page editor to manage the content for its web server. Trademarked as WebForm Studio 2.0, the new software unlocks the potential of web-enabled automation and monitoring. Instead of producing device-specific apps, CSE-Semaphore has deployed Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX), the agnostic technology of reference for Web 2.0. Without writing code, TBox LT2 users can build device-independent Web pages that include vectorized dynamic objects from an extensive library. The web pages are compatible with all browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE9, Opera, Safari), all operating systems (Android, iOS, Linux, Windows) and, therefore, virtually all smart phones and tablets.
The integrated cyber security suite meets the growing need for cyber security in all SCADA systems. The TBox Security Suite includes authentication, encryption, a firewall, HTTP Secure, SFTP, SSH, TLS/SSL, and a virtual private network. For reporting within IT networks, TBox LT2 also provides a broad implementation of the simple network management protocol (SMNP).
CSE-Semaphore's RTU products are ideal for a broad range of monitoring and control applications in the asset management, broadcast / telecom, oil & gas, power, transportation, and water / wastewater industries.
