Reactivity Prevails in XML Infrastructure Review

Network Testing Labs Assessed Products From Reactivity, DataPower, Forum Systems, Actional and Sarvega

MOBILE, AL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 12/20/05 -- Network Testing Lab's, today announced the publication of its XML Infrastructure Front-End review. According to tests done by Network Testing Labs, Reactivity, Inc.'s Gateway 2400 product was the leading application in this review. Products from Actional (www.actional.com), DataPower [recently acquired by IBM, (www.datapower.com)], Forum Systems (www.forumsys.com), Reactivity (www.reactivity.com), and Sarvega [recently acquired by Cisco, (www.sarvega.com)] were comparatively reviewed. The review was published in the December issue of Business Communications Review.

"Our test revealed Reactivity's Gateway 2400 Appliance is the most scalable, quickest, easiest to manage and most feature-rich XML processor," said Barry Nance, consultant, Network Testing Labs. "In this process we assessed performance, security, ease of use, scalability and documentation. In our report card of the products, Reactivity scored four A's and one B while the second highest rated had one A and four B's."

This Network Testing Labs report states that Reactivity's Gateway 2400 easily outperforms the competition. Nance also wrote that the Gateway 2400 provides high level of security, performs its work quickly and efficiently, is easy-to-use, offers finely-granular security configuration options and scales effectively. Additionally, he emphasized that its agnostic stance with respect to protocols, network message contents, WS standards and credentials offers a unique value proposition to customers.

Network Testing Labs' Testbed and Methodology

The test environment for the Web Services security performance evaluation consisted of a Compaq Proliant ML 570 server and 100 concurrently active clients. Apache Version 2 ran on the Proliant and served up static XML content. On each client, a multithreaded cURL-based application sent requests to the Proliant server. The server and all the clients used HTTP 1.1 with KeepAlive enabled.

In the Network Testing Labs performance testing, Nance measured each product's processing speed in transactions per second. The test varied packet content and the Gateway's security configuration in a comprehensive battery of tests. The security configuration settings were to check for denial of service only; inspect packets for well-formed XML; validate the XML schema; encrypt the XML payload; and add an XML signature to the response payload.
