Gideon Technologies Earns OVAL Repository Top Contributor Award for the 4th Quarter of 2009

Fourth Consecutive Award for Significant Contributions of Open Information Security Content

ATLANTA and WASHINGTON, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Gideon Technologies, the leading provider of information security solutions that automate and orchestrate enterprise IT security and risk management, announces earning the OVAL Repository Top Contributor Award for the 4th quarter of 2009. OVAL is an international, information security, community standard sponsored by the National Cyber Security Division of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. This is the fourth quarter in a row that Gideon has been named a Top Contributor for making significant contributions of new or modified content to the OVAL Repository, which helps make the repository a gold standard of open information security content.

"OVAL solves the problem for software developers of how to detect vulnerabilities or configuration issues in systems in a structured and common way," said Ken Halley, CEO and co-founder of Gideon Technologies. "We are greatly honored that our contributions to the repository validate our commitment to delivering solutions that help secure the IT infrastructure of our clients, including federal and local government."

OVAL promotes open and publicly available security content, and standardizes the transfer of this information across the entire spectrum of security tools and services. The OVAL Language enables interoperability between security products by providing a standard XML language with which to exchange information. Top Contributor Awards are granted each quarter to organizations exceeding a threshold of submissions of new definitions or modifications to existing Repository content.

IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...
The standardization of container runtimes and images has sparked the creation of an almost overwhelming number of new open source projects that build on and otherwise work with these specifications. Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded. A service mesh like Istio addr...
