Emulex Delivers FCoE CNAs for Sun COMSTAR Project

Emulex has announced that it will offer Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBA) and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) Converged Network Adapters (CNAs) for use with OpenSolaris’ Common Multiprotocol SCSI Target (COMSTAR), thereby providing end-to-end Fibre Channel and FCoE support within OpenSolaris environments. Emulex’s LightPulse HBAs and CNAs enable Sun Microsystems' OpenSolaris customers to evaluate and deploy storage appliances, while experiencing the benefits of network convergence, such as increased server efficiency, and lower power and cooling costs.

Open-Xchange Closes Series B Venture Funding of $9 Million

Open-Xchange has closed a Series B round of venture funding totaling $9 million. The company will use the funds to further develop its software and continue expanding its business in the U.S., Europe and emerging markets. The round was led by eCAPITAL entrepreneurial Partners AG, a Munster , Germany-based, high-growth IT (Information Technology) equity firm. Also participating are Munich-based, BayBG, and existing Munich-based investor, BayTech Venture Capital. Frank Hoelzle, managing partner at eCAPITAL, will join the Open-Xchange board of directors. Terms of the financing deal were not disclosed.

OpenSolaris Prototype for IBM System z Made Available to Open Source Community

IBM, Sun Microsystems and Sine Nomine Associates have announced the availability of operating system prototype code based on OpenSolaris Operating System, running on an IBM System z mainframe, to the global OpenSolaris community. The prototype was completed by SNA with equipment and financial assistance provided by IBM and technical assistance provided by Sun. In November of 2007, IBM, Sun and SNA demonstrated the early stages of the OpenSolaris-based prototype running on an IBM mainframe, illustrating the OpenSolaris operating system and the IBM mainframe's proven ability to virtualize the data center.

Apatar Prevents Deceased Credit Fraud with CDYNE Death Index Data Quality Service
